• Missions

    The Local Missions ministries oversees the benevolence funds and assistance of PUMC.  This ministry is made up of teams of who meet weekly to talk with those local community members who may be in need of prayer, resources, or assistance with items such as food, utilities, or gas.  

    PUMC Local Missions meets on Wednesdays from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the parlor. 

    If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:17-18

  • Sunday School

    Sunday School is the cornerstone of community and Biblical teaching here at PUMC.  There are currently nine Sunday School classes to meet the needs of all ages and interests.  

    Sunday School classes meet each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. 

    Matthew 28:20 - ...and teaching  them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. 

  • Prayer Group

    The Tuesday Morning Prayer Group meets at 9:30 each Tuesday morning to oversee the current prayer needs of the PUMC and Talowah Church families and the Purvis community. 

    The weekly prayer list for the scroll and the bulletin are updated and each name on the list are prayed for.  In addition, cards are sent to families in sickness, grief, and in celebration.  Click here to submit a prayer request.

  • Men's Ministry

    The Men’s Ministry is a gathering of men who are dedicated to serving Christ through our words and actions.  The Men’s Ministry is open to men of all ages and provides an environment for men to come together and learn more about each others’ respective journey as Christian men while also serving and growing in faith through service to the mission of PUMC. The PUMC Men's Ministry meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month for Men's Breakfast at  8:00am in the fellowship hall.

  • Tweens

    PUMC Tween Ministry is for grades 4-6.    With 1 Timothy 4:12 as the motto of Tweens, this amazing group participates in many service opportunities, fun adventures, and meaningful worship and spiritual development.

  • Children's Ministry

    Partnering with parents to guide kids toward a HEART for God.  PUMC Children's Ministry mission is to assist families with the spiritual development of children from birth through 6th grade.  This includes specifically designed sunday school classes, Wednesday evening activities, special events, and ongoing community activities.   For more information or to get involved contact Maggie West, 601.310.2964.

  • Music Ministry

    The PUMC Adult Choir is under the direction of Mrs. Cassandra Weiss and accompanied by Dr. Mark Malone.  This choir welcomes and members who love to sing.  We have approximately 25 members ages 15-80.  We rehearse Wednesday nights from 7-8 p.m.  and lead the congregation in worship with hymns and anthems on Sunday mornings.  This awesome choir has a yearly Christmas Cantata that includes a live orchestra as well as various other performances throughout the year.

    We have many fun choir parties, picnics, and get together as well as regularly share each others parayer concerns.  

    We also host a Children's Choir that meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays form 5:30 - 7.  This group of 2nd - 6th graders enjoy learning to read music, perform church musicals, and incorporate arts, crafts, and instruments  into the enjoyment of singing and learning music.
